Top Projects of 2016

Skyward World Headquarters and One Menasha Center have been selected in the 2016 list of The Daily Reporter’s Top Projects.  The Daily Reporter holds an annual Top Projects Awards program and banquet for the design and construction industry. The awards banquet is on May 16, 2017 at Potawatomi Bingo and Casino. Congratulations to everyone involved on these two projects along with the other selected projects! Skyward is a nationwide software developer for school systems and was faced with the challenge of rapid growth.

Performa helped Skyward determine their current and future facility needs, and designed a solution that brought together the entire company under one roof. This consolidation allows for increased production and greater employee collaboration within a high performance environment.

The new 192,000 square foot world headquarters is located in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, and sits on a 40 acre site adjacent to highway 39. The facility houses nearly 1,000 employees on four floors with subsurface parking for 20 below the building.

The interior of the facility is very open and transparent and is designed to enhance a ‘scrum team’ operating model. This model requires maximum flexibility and the ability to adapt to rapid team formation.

Facility amenities include a complete food service operation, outdoor patio, health clinic, concierge, training spaces and state-of-the-art technology systems throughout the building.

One Menasha Center is the new heart of Downtown Menasha. This speculative, 120,000 square foot office building was designed to exude pride of place, history, and progress. The seven stories of open plan office space above a floor of street level retail are designed to the highest standard of flexibility. On each floor the perimeter space is subdivisable as needed, and column free for ultimate flexibility. The extremely deep 42’ clear floor plates allow for changing tenant space reprogramming needs, and provides an uncluttered, visually expansive view across the floor plate and to the surrounding community beyond.

Built on an extremely tight urban site at a bend on Main Street, the building responds to these constraints by graciously standing back from the lot line, and by angling the northeast corner of the building. This simple but bold move creates a sense of progress, excitement, urbanity and unifies both halves of the downtown. Atop the building, a similar gesture reaches upward completing the dynamic northeast side of the building, announcing the epicenter of Menasha.

Careful consideration was given to the palette of materials and the scale of the outside. The modern and elegant solution creates the starting point for Menasha to reinvent itself, and provides a signature experience and calling card for the companies that call it home.
